problem with 100% height of divs

    Dear Webdeveloper community,

I'm working on a simple website, but I'm running into a problem with 100% heights on divs.
The problem in short is that the div gets too long and takes up more space...

    Here is an example:

And here is how it should look

    Please help me out

    Kind Regards,
    MellowSpark

P.S. I'm talking about the Category Menu div, from my example.

    You could try adding height to your code in the oversized box division. Without knowing the height something like this; height: 200px;

That will set the box size and stop it from overflowing.

Hi tony thank you for your reply, however setting the height of the container box or the oversized box in pixels will become a problem when the site gets displayed on a diffrent resolution.
I want the light grey box ( categories div ) to fill the height from the initial top position to the bottom of the page.
    See the example layout picture.

I'm sure this is possible, but how :S

I don't know the answer but it would be more helpful if you posted the code so that people can see what you have done.

If you can't use pixels you could try using em. just divide the pixels by 16 and use em after the number.

Looks like two-column layout. You can specify a height, but the divs will stretch to accommodate the content.

Search for some CSS examples, such as http://www.maxdesign.com.au/articles/process/

    Where will your navigation be?
