    Resolving Domain Name to IP

    Hi
hope this thread is in the right place.

For over 12 months, I've hosted a website at home using Ubuntu 11.04, static IP of 124.254.81.40 and domain name of rightintoit.net

A few weeks ago, electricians cut the power at home, and since then, if I try to access the domain from within my LAN, Chrome reports an error "Oops! Google Chrome could not connect to www.rightintoit.net". Sometimes the error may even refer to DNS errors. If I use the IP address to connect, it connects fine!

I've tried to access the domain name from work, and that was successful.

Domain is handled through zonomi.com. I'd appreciate any advice on how to fix accessing my domain from home.

    Basil

Kind of a patchy fix, but try adding your domain name and IP to your hostfile.

    From terminal,

    sudo gedit /etc/hosts

    Make a new line like

    124.254.81.40 rightintoit.net

    Save and restart your computer
