    Keep mouseover on active class.

I made a little image selector. When you click, the background image changes, when your mouse over, the image comes into color. The problem I'm having is I don't know how to keep the images seperate. if your click image 2, then mouse over image 1, image 1 pops up in color. I want to make the mouseover and mouse events only activate on the active thumbnail.

Here's what i'm using for my images.

    Code:
    <a href="#" onclick="document.getElementById('hdrdiv').className ='hdr1';showitem('toggle1');hideitem('toggle2');hideitem('toggle3');hideitem('toggle4');hideitem('toggle5')"><img src="<?php bloginfo('template_directory'); ?>/contentbg/1black.jpg"></a>
What i'm looking for is something like If class = hdr1, mouseover event
