    Help to understand function

    Hi all, I have taken a script about sliding text from net. It has usage method. but inside it there is function that has four parameters and one of them was used. I dont understand it. Can you help me to understand it? below is script.
    in this script i dont understand this line

    See this page about the replace method Specifying a function as a parameter.

    Broadly speaking the function will be invoked after the match has been performed with the arguments $0, $1, $2... It's useful too build a replacement return string or to define variables from catches (Search and don’t replace)...
