How does a "blog software" create code?

    See discussion at
    http://www.webdeveloper.com/forum/sh...TML-CSS-markup
    regarding yucky code at http://www.fitnyc.edu/13628.asp
    <p><strong><span style="background-color:#00ffff;"><span style="background-color:#ffffff; color:#0000ff;">test page</span></span></strong></p>
    <p><span><span style="background-color:#f0ffff; color:#0000ff;"><strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;"><span style="background-color:#ffffff;">Firstbio Person<br /> </span></span></strong><span style="background-color: #ffffff; color: #000000;">I received . . .</span></span></span></p>
    <p><span><span style="background-color: #ffffff; color:#000000;">My advice . . .<br /></span><span style="background-color:#f0ffff; color:#0000ff;"></span></span></p>
    <p><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong><span style="background-color:#00ffff;"><span style="background-color:#ffffff; color:#0000ff;">Secondbio Person <br /></span></span></strong></span>My name is Secondbio Person....</p>
    WebJoel observed
...it oh-so looks like how some blog software creates code for posts.
    So I'm wondering:
What process would be involved using "some blog software" to create such code?
How would you transfer such code from a blog post to the HTML page?
Would the person doing so have to see such garbage at some point?

I would go about it so you have a blank template page with the basic HTML & CSS with nothing on it but the basic website template.
Then when each blog/forum posts loads (through PHP) onto this template page. Thus only needing one template page which could load 1000s of different forum posts.

    So break down:
    - You click on this forum post.
    - This thread has an ID 273127
    - Everything stored in the table with the ID 273127 is echo'd in a predefined format.
-Everytime theres a post a new unique ID is made which everything is normally stored.(Including HTML code to be displayed).

WebJoel described a HTML editor its like word but it does the code. CKeditor is one.

It's the sort of code that's typically produced by JavaScript-based HTML editors like FCKEditor. Many blog/CMS packages rely on such editors to allow non-professional users to produce styled content in a familiar, word-processor-like environment without requiring them to write their own HTML. Any subsequent editing sessions only tend to compound the level of convoluted mark-up. But since the object is only to produce the desired visual presentation of content with a typical half-life of less than an hour and a half, not efficient, well-formed HTML/CSS, there's really no compelling need to "fix" it.

    Thanks for response.

Did not quite understand the "process," but checked source code at http://ckeditor.com/demo. It didn't look as yucky as that used at
    http://www.fitnyc.edu/13628.asp

So still wondering how that could happen ???

    thanks

    Thank you both.

rt___ That seems to explain it. Someone who couldn't be bothered with HTML/CSS basics tried "to fix it."

That page has been up for several months now.
