Dynamically generated style sheet url..?
i'm having to study a particular website and notice this link tag-
<link rel="stylesheet" href="/static/CACHE/css/794d89e53456.css" type="text/css">
it looks like it's being generated dynamically. is that what is going on?
i closed the window and reopened yet the url is the same.
if it is dynamically generated would the purpose be, so the browser won't cache it?
and also, what is generating that url..? php maybe?
You're correct that there's some form of automation involved here, but it's hard to say exactly what's going on or why it's being done. The word 'cache' in the URL sounds like something a prominent hosting service does. They have a complex system of load-balanced servers that automatically caches CSS files - which apparently boosts their overall performance. And the filename for the CSS file looks like it was dynamically generated for some reason. The stylesheet might be altered depending on the User Agent (browser), but there's no way to know the whole story from the outside. Unless the possibility that the stylesheet is dynamic is critical to why you're studying the site, I wouldn't put a lot of effort into this aspect.
okay, good answer!, thanks
