There are several photo editors that can be used in absence of adobe photoshop. I personally use online photoshop for editing and designing my photos.
The good thing i know about this tool is that it doesn't requires any download or installation process as well as provides and interface like the adobe photoshop.
Dont you want to use photoshop cs6 or just you want an alternative to adobe photoshop? Have you tried to use photoshop cs5, its quite user friendly with lots of features available. I am using this.
