resolved [RESOLVED] Noob-ish Question about URLs

I'm trying to figure out a way (if possible) to have a url such as "example.com/xY25e" to go to my index.php and to allow me access to that ending "xY25e" code.

What I'm doing is attempting to write my own URL minifier (like bit.ly), so that's the type of functionality I'm trying to accomplish.

If you can point me to an article or something I'd really appreciate it. Thanks!

If you search for something like "URL rewriting" and/or "Apache mod_rewrite", you should find plenty of info.

You'll probably want to redirect to a single PHP page, passing the unique identifier part as a GET parameter, then access that in the PHP $_GET array to determine what page (or whatever) to include at that point.
