You should go with the latest version because every version comes with something new introduced that adds on to making the software user-friendly. I currently use the latest version, i.e. CS6. Try out the latest version each time a new version is released. I encourage this practice because once you start using fresh versions, you'll start enjoying them more and you won't even consider going back to an older version.

The Adobe Photoshop CS6 is the best for the graphic design and if talking regarding comfortable of use of any software then you will become very well friendly when you work with it. You have knowledge about Photoshop software thatís why this is the best for you and if you want to go with other alternative of Photoshop then GIMP is also good for graphic design.

CS6 of course, unless your PC can't handle it, i'd say CS3 is my choice.

If money doesn't matter for you then you can go for Artweaver, CorelDRAW Graphics Suite, Pixelmator etc... but i would like to recommend you to use the latest version of Photoshop because Adobe Creative Suite is actually standard in the world of graphic design.

"Two-edged sword"! You need to learn several to have good personal development and, by the way, you can not compare the features of CorelDraw and Photoshop. In some moment you will need to work on both.
