    Using HTTP Authenticate

I have a personal project that I want to add login authentication to.

I though that I would use the PHP HTTP Authenticate example and I am having a problem unsetting the $_SERVER['PHP_AUTH_DIGEST'] or in the earlier attempt, the $_SERVER['PHP_AUTH_USER'] variables to invoke login authenticate popup until the cancel is clicked.

Any ideas on how to unset those variables

Having already tried the unset() for the variables, this method does not work, someone in a forum article said that you need to issue a 401 header...

The problem here is that the form issues a 401 header already when the page is reloaded, so the question remains if this is correct, how does one enforce it???
