Broken links are links that lead to pages that do not exist. When clicking on a broken link, the page you land on is called a 404 error page, a standard HTTP response that indicates that the requested URL does’ not exist.
To find broken links Use W3c validator .

A hyperlink which is not functioning, or a link that does not lead to the desired location. Most websites have some broken links, but if there are too many it can indicate poor content, poor upkeep of the site, or both. Too many broken links may cause search engines to rank a page (or even an entire website) as being less relevant.

Broken links are the urls directing to the page which does not exist, you can either make those pages available or redirect bots not crawl those pages through robot txt file.
