    division and class not opening to max width 600px - (opens to about 120px)

    I am trying to create a web page. The top section is fine.
    I have tried to append a division with the text but it appears about 300 px below the top section and is about 120 px wide when it should be around 600px.
    I have used max-width 100%;

    How can I get the div to open to it's full size and to append to the top section without a border?

    The css code is
    #container-d{
    max-width: 100%;
    background-color:#E1B1A7;
    padding-top: 10px;
    padding-bottom: 20px;
    }
    .main-box {
    margin-top: 20px;
    margin-left: 15%;
    margin-right: 15%;
    background-color:#fff;
    border-color: #d5d6ff;
    border-style: outset;
    border-width: 4px;
    text-align: left;
    font-family: arial,san-serif;
    font-size: 1.25em;
    color: black;
    padding: 10px;
    }

    You can see the css file here
    You can see the html file here
