    add number to button

    i have made two switches.one is "show" and the other is "hide".But apart from this i want to show numbers like "show image1/2" using only one script.how can i manage that:
    Code:
    <!doctype html>
    <html>
    <head>
    <meta charset="utf-8">
    <title>Untitled Document</title>
    <style>
    #imag1,#imag2{
    	width:300px;
    	height:300px;
    	display:none;
    }
    </style>
    <script>

    function show(imgs,bttn){

          var s=document.getElementById(imgs);
    	  var t=document.getElementById(bttn);

    	(t.value=="show")?(s.style.display="block",t.value="hide"):(s.style.display="none",t.value="show");
    }

    </script>
    </head>

    <body>
    <div><input type="button" value="show" onClick="retrun false" onMouseDown="show('imag1','btn1');" id="btn1"></div>
    <img src="image1.jpg" id="imag1">
    <div><input type="button" value="show" onClick="retrun false" onMouseDown="show('imag2','btn2');" id="btn2"></div>
    <img src="image2.jpg" id="imag2">

    </body>
    </html>

    Clarification please...

    Are the button labels supposed to change?
    Like 'Show Image 1/2" and 'Hide Image 1/2" and 'Show Image 2/2" and 'Hide Image 2/2"?

    And do you want the bottom button to jump up and down like that?

    Just a guess based upon my assumptions for the answers to the above questions...
    Code:
    <!doctype html>
    <html>
    <head>
    <meta charset="utf-8">
    <title>Untitled Document</title>
    <style>
     #imag1, #imag2 { width:300px; height:300px; display:none; border:1px solid red; }
    </style>

    <script>
    function extract(value) {
      return value.replace(/\D/g,'');
    }
    function show(imgs,bttn){
      var s=document.getElementById(imgs);
      var t=document.getElementById(bttn);
      (t.value.indexOf("Show Image") != -1) ? (s.style.display="inline",t.value="Hide Image "+extract(bttn)+"/2")
                                            : (s.style.display="none",  t.value="Show Image "+extract(bttn)+"/2");
    }
    </script>
    </head>

    <body>
    <div>
     <input type="button" value="Show Image 1/2" onClick="retrun false" onMouseDown="show('imag1','btn1');" id="btn1">
     <input type="button" value="Show Image 2/2" onClick="retrun false" onMouseDown="show('imag2','btn2');" id="btn2">
    </div>
    <div>
     <img src="http://www.nova.edu/hpd/otm/pics/4fun/11.jpg" id="imag1">
     <img src="http://www.nova.edu/hpd/otm/pics/4fun/22.jpg" id="imag2">
    </div>
    </body>
    </html>

    many many thaks for ur reply brother....
    i solved it.i actually want to use "show 1" then "hide 1" and "show 2"and "hide 2" using only one script.addet another variable in function call

    <script>

    function show(imgs,bttn,i){

    var s=document.getElementById(imgs);
    var t=document.getElementById(bttn);

    (t.value=="show"+i)?(s.style.display="block",t.value="hide"+i)s.style.display="none",t.value="show"+i);
    }

    </script>
