    Strider64 is right, by adding a HighlightLink.php file you can get highlighted the link text till visitor is on the page.

    Apply the current class to list. Then modify your css.
    .current a { ..... }

    This does not make sense to me. How can you still be on the same page if you have clicked a link???

    At http://auntnini.com/sites/index.html my style sheet gives me focus color as long as pop-up window is active:

    Code:
    a { font-weight: normal;  text-decoration: none; color: black; } /* #cc0033  #fc0 */
    a:link { text-decoration: none; background: none; }
    a:visited {	color: #5d5d5d; /* #f30  firebrick*/	}
    a:hover { text-decoration: underline; color: #F09; /*orange F90 red 39F pink F3C red cc0033; */ }
    a:focus { color: orange; }
    a:active { text-decoration:none; color: lime;/*blueGrey8899aa*/	}
    a:target { }
