# Thread: Canceling a superscript in a table.

1. ## Canceling a superscript in a table.

In the following code snippet:
Code:
```html>
<title>Calculating Loan Payments</title>
<body>
<center><h1>Calculating Loan Payments</h1></center>
<center><table style="font-size: 20px;">
<tr><td>1) </td><td><b>F</b> &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;= </td><td></td><td>A * (1 + i)<sup>n - 1</sup></td><td>+A * (1 + i)<sup>n - 2</sup></td><td> + . . . . </td>
<td>+A * (1 + i)<sup>2</sup></td><td>+A * (1 + i)<sup>1</sup></td><td>+A</td></tr>
</table></center><br>
</body></html>```
each term in the equation has a smaller superscript (exponent) except for the last one which as a value of simply +A. However, it looks like it is part of the exponent for the next to last term.
What did I miss?
TIA
Try this:
Code:
```<tr valign="bottom"><td>1) </td><td><b>F</b> &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;= </td><td></td><td>A * (1 + i)<sup>n - 1</sup></td><td>+A * (1 + i)<sup>n - 2</sup></td><td> + . . . . </td>
<td>+A * (1 + i)2</td><td>+A * (1 + i)1</td><td>+A</td></tr>```

3. Many thanks! The whole (new) page is InterestTheory.html.

I was wondering why the formula was in a table. Now I understand.

5. If I were a teacher I'd probably have access to better ways to display formulas like that, but just saving room for the (new) first term after the equal sign was tricky enough.
