    full width background and fixed with content

    Hey,

    I think the title says it all... I have a site that has full-width bg and content is 1100px wide.

    The only way I can think of on how to code this is like this:
    Code:
    <div style='width: 1100px;'>
    **Content**
    </div>
    **Background image**
    <div style='width: 1100px;'>
    **Some more content**
    </div>
    But is there a more intelligent way, so that I don't have to break the container div?

    Thanks

    As the page Rick linked points out, explicitly sizing a background image is not supported by IE8 and earlier, but I can't see that matters as the page is not responsive anyway! But why not? The global stats suggest that the second most used screen size globally is 1024x768, and that over 20% of usage is of this, or smaller, display sizes. So there is a good reason to make the page responsive.

    Ah, so I was just in the middle of writing when the solution came to me
    I was addressing a different issue, not with CSS but HTML. But anyway, now it's sorted out. Thanks.

    Does nobody know about "width:100%;"?
