    redirect https to http

    Hi There!

I have migrated a PHP application from a https://mydomain.php to a http://mydomain.php. The problem is that an iphone application is still making AJAX requests to the older domain (https) and now the new domain is http, so all the requests are getting the untrusted connection

For example, if I open the URL of the new domain in Firefox, but typing https instead of http, I get an “Untrusted Connection”.

    How can I avoid this??

Does it have something to do with DNS??

    Thank you very much!

You can add this to your htaccess file, should work for what you want to do.

    RewriteEngine On
    RewriteCond %{HTTPS} on
    RewriteRule (.*) http://%{HTTP_HOST}%{REQUEST_URI}

To establish an HTTPS connection, the browser needs to trust the SSL/TLS cert installed on the search appliance. In the case where the browser displays this error, the search appliance has an SSL cert which is either self-signed or the signing certificate of authority is not trusted by your browser's configuration. thats why its showing Untrusted connection.

You can use the above code to redirect https to http

    Hope this will help.

As of a few months ago, most major browsers which include Internet Explorer, FireFox and Chrome will now prefer HTTPS over HTTP if you partially fill out the domain name and hit ENTER. Most websites will load just fine, however even for eCommerce websites there is no good reason to load the Homepage securely with HTTPS. In fact, it will way down and use more server side resources and increase the likelihood of lost business when a spike in traffic will occur.
A simple and effective solution is to force a 301 redirect on the homepage of your website from HTTPS to HTTP. We can achieve that with very little code, 2 lines to be exact. To redirect your homepage from HTTPS to HTTP add these lines to your .httaccess or the httpd.conf file:

#Redirect your Homepage from HTTPS to HTTP
    RewriteCond %{HTTPS} on
    RewriteRule ^$ http://%{HTTP_HOST} [L,R]

The main reasons why these lines work best:
    - Easy copy and paste into any apache configuration file (as long as mod-rewrite is turned on).
    - Will work for any domain name. With ‘www’ or without, etc.
    - Is restricted to only affect the homepage, hence lowering the likelihood of other issues popping up when you are running larger websites or advanced frameworks like Magento or WordPress.

“Untrusted Connection” << untrusted SSL/TLS cert, you can configured your site with trusted SSL/TLS cert to solve this.
and why you install https when you want your site redirect to http?
