    One way is to use postition:absolute to overlay a div containing an anchor with text "x" in the top right hand corner (or wherever). E.g.
    CSS
    Code:
    #vid {
    position:relative;
    width:100%;
    height:100%;
    z-index:1;
    }
    #exit {
    position:absolute;
    top:0;
    right:0;
    color:#fff;
    background-color:000;
    z-index:2;
    }
    HTML
    Code:
    <div id="vid">

    <!-- video code goes here -->

    <div id="exit">
    <a href="next-page.html">&nbsp;X&nbsp;</a>
    </div>
    </div>

    I'm not a fan of autoplay video, particularly in the homepage. People are now searching for a user friendly site instead of giving them videos in which they don't need at first. The slideshow is a lot more professional and it's fast loading either.
