Make a base html file on my server into my default site

I have placed a base html file on my server:

    Code:
    http://www.mysite.com/base.htm
I want to make it my default site:

    Code:
    http://www.mysite.com
    How do I do that?

    Easiest way? rename it index.html
Java is to JavaScript as Ham is to Hamburger.

I agree with dethshadow, but I just wonder why you named the web page "base", and whether there is any significance in your using the file extension ".htm" instead of the more usual ".html". I can't remember which was the last version of MS Windows that only supported 8.3 file names, but it must have been a long time ago!!! It makes me wonder whether you are using an obsolete Microsoft toolkit to develop your site on? If so you may not be able to rename the web page as suggested...
