New with Javascipt. Need help with animation.

I'm having trouble primarily because I'm so new at this. I'm not sure how to get started. I want a dark blue background with twinkling stars (a starry night) and the occasional shooting star would be nice... This will all be animated using javascript.

Also how to input a javascript code into a html file? I'll have a separate javascript file (I'm working in eclipse if you're familiar), so I'm not sure what the html background code will look like, tying the javascript file in it.

    I found this code: http://www.javascriptfreecode.com/8.htm
but its terrible... It's not even compatible with firefox and when I tried opening it in safari it was all squished to the top of the page.

    Help out an amateur!!!

How about you try learning the language before you attempt your idea.

May one day yester-year back in 1990's or something it may have worked...

document.write has been depreciated and it is frowned upon for using it despite it still working in browsers.

document.layers is also depreciated in favor of using CSS for positioning of elements

    Try this http://www.script-tutorials.com/nigh...omment-page-1/

IDK about shooting stars, a bit overrated if you ask me...
--> JavaScript Frameworks like JQuery, Angular, Node <--
... and please remember to wrap code with forum BBCode tags:-

    [CODE]...[/CODE] [HTML]...[/HTML] [PHP]...[/PHP]

If you can't think outside the box, you will be trapped forever with no escape...
