Hi and welcome to the site.

A responsive design is inherently more complex than a fixed-width design, therefore it is likely to be less easy to maintain. However, I would suggest that:

    - If suitably designed from scratch, the additional workload is modest.

    - More importantly, that is a false comparison.

A more accurate comparison is between a responsive design and separate PC and mobile versions of a site. Then the benefits of a responsive design are pretty conclusive.

As for ease of maintenance, that depends on how the site is built, what you include in the term "maintenance" and who is maintaining it? Sites built with CMSs and themes are designed to be easy to build and easy to do basic maintenance, e.g. amending the content. Hence their popularity amongst professionals and amateurs alike. However, the situation is very different when it comes to changing the page structure, adding new facilities and maintenance of that sort. Then what may be relatively trivial changes to a hand-coded site may be horrendously complex and error prone. That is simply because of the much greater size and complexity of the CMS-based site. Now, this is true for fixed width and responsive designs, but the greater number of circumstances that have to be taken into account, and tested for, may make a responsive design significantly more difficult to adapt and modify.

However, much of this is surmise, because I'm not sure how many major responsive sites have reached the point where they need non-trivial maintenance. So it may be that the jury is still out on that one. And, in any case, I'd suggest that responsive design is here to stay. So if the current crop of responsive CMSs and themes prove difficult to maintain, then it is likely that they will be adapted or replaced by better ones.

One URL makes it easy for users to interact with the website. If built properly, responsive design automatically adjusts to whatever device the user is using. When making changes to your site, you only have to make those changes in one place instead of two if you have a separate mobile website.

No there is not any drawback in the development of responsive websites.Infact It is really easy to make your design responsive you just have to add media queries in your site.

Some Drawbacks of responsive site design:
    (1) It Defeats User Expectation
    (2) It Costs More and Takes Longer
    (3) There is Often No Load Time Benefit
    (4) It’s a Compromise

    In what respect?

    (2) It Costs More and Takes Longer
Are you comparing a responsive design to a fixed-width design, or to a fixed width and a separate mobile site?

    (3) There is Often No Load Time Benefit
    Who said there were?

    (4) It’s a Compromise
That is not, of itself, a disadvantage. Besides, every design is a compromise between cost and functionality, aesthetics and usability, functionality and maintainability... Are you claiming that it is a worse compromise than separate PC and mobile sites? If so I would disagree. On the contrary, I would suggest that it is more cost-effective.

Advantages: responsive design automatically adjusts to whatever device the user is using.
Disadvantages: it will cost more, Pages load slower.

If developer/designer does Mobile version first with the speed load will be all ok.

As a user point of view responsive site is more flexible, cost effective, easy to manageable. This is an advantage. I dont think is any drawback with responsive design.

The biggest advantage of responsive design is it's compatibility with the phone as we all know mostly traffic of websites comes from mobiles in these days so responsive design gives a great advantage to the website in business. I don't think is the drawback with responsive design.
