Hey, I have an idea! It's a fantastic idea, really a good-news-for-all type thing. How about someone here with a bit of artistic talent makes me a new avatar? Something that fits my name...
Doesn't that sound like fun?

You did NOT just call Billie Joe a sell-out hack. GASP HORROR SHOCK FAINT.
Well, if you get inspimarired I'd appriciate it. Even if you are a jerk for disliking Billie. BILLIE! Did you ever listen to American Idiot?

Yes, I have, unfortunately. It wasn't anything special. Same stuff that's been being played for YEARS, but the media served it to you, and since you think of them as artists and etc., you think they're great, and it sells. Wee. I'm not commenting that he doesn't say, put on a good show, or they're a bad band, but they're not the gem they're being made out to be. Just another band...that's not bad, but that's ALL. THEY. ARE.
I'm not blaming "Billie," it was a wise move to accept the popularity, he has no reason not to. But it bothers me that people are so fanatical about them. Media whores.
Actually, I didn't really care about Green Day much UNTIL I heard American Idiot. Any CD I can listen to five times a day for three months and not get sick of it, I'm saying it's a job well done. I'm not a media whore.
Though I did go see them in concert, and they do put on a great show.

But would you have listened to it had it not been pimped by the media? No. Did you give Green Day a chance until they were pimped by the media? No. If they had pimped one of their earlier CDs, you would've been just as attached to it. I went through the same thing with Meteora. I listen to it now, not so great. But it followed every thing that was selling well at the moment. So it was popular, and people were saying it was good, and it was all I was really listening to, so I didn't really think much of it.
There's MANY, many MANNNNNY CDs that don't get old. They're much better when sandwich'd, but they're quality (and ungimmicky) enough to just...stand up. Hell, I can still listen to "Maybe Just Once" and enjoy it with a straight face. And how many times have I listened to Hollywood? The Three Calamities? Sinister Nostalgia? Nevermind? Thirteenth Step? Any of NIN's Halos? Sabbath, Bloody Sabbath? Pandemonium? Superunknown? The Sinister Urge? Need I go on?
