    resolved [RESOLVED] OpenOffice failed install...

Scratching head on this one because I have tried what M$ said, tried what several forums have suggested... Still not happening.

The main problem is the Visual C++ Redist package installing to a Windows 10 PC, it is failing to install, try to remove it and I get a warning about the unistall is blocked due to a current process running despite me killing it in the task manager first.

So I reboot, try to do another install and the install is blocked by an ongoing process OR it alternatively opts for saying that the package has not installed properly and to remove it to reinstall it and been around that block several times now.

I did a quick search for this problem and I seem to be the first person having a particular issue as the quoted methoid to resolve this, even from OpenOffice themselves, is to unistall the package (done) reinstall the package (Trying)

By contrast, I have a Windows Connect 10 Tablet, I installed OpenOffice and the redist packages without a problem but find that some windows programs will not work on the tablet.

I am looking for ideas on what could be causing the redist package to fail at the very end and then cause the whole install process to fail...

    See if Geek uninstaller
    https://www.geekuninstaller.com/
can see it and remove it.
I prefer it over Revo uninstaller

Yes, open-office was build with openjdk6 as a dep, will have to try to build with java-runtime as a dep, if open-office is continuing (Chakra might just go with libre-office, but then from source, not bin, like this version).
You can try open-office again, but remove jre first.

There was a botched Windows 10 install by the people who sold the laptop to my friend.

It wasn't having any removal tool removing anything, despite knowing that Visual C++ redist had stalled and failed in install, the persistence of the installer program after failure stopped any removal or further install attempts.

So I ended up installing Windows 10 Pro (a fresh download from Microsoft) and everything went on like a charm, no issues.
