    Well, your basic HTML template is extremely poor.

    I would suggest that you use one like this...

    Code:

    <!DOCTYPE HTML>
    <html lang="en">
    <head>

    <meta charset="utf-8">
    <meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width,height=device-height,initial-scale=1">

    <title>untitled document</title>

    <link rel="stylesheet" href="screen.css" media="screen">

    </head>
    <body>

    <script src="somename.js"></script>

    </body>
    </html>

    Opened your link and hit F12
    Console shows a lot of errors
    Selected the Network tab and did the performance test 7+ seconds
    1.5+ MBs of js. A bit much there.
    Possible help.

    Interesting. I get a 1.3 second load time and no error...

    It's just a simple wordpress theme that's installed and its a well known and popular one at that so there really shouldn't be an issue.

    Any chance you could provide a screenshot so I can possibly debug the issue?

    Using Firefox
    Open your site and then hit F12, web developer will open with the Console tab selected.
    You will see the errors.

    The errors are probably caused by that theme.
    HTML - 8 errors

    CSS Errors (16) Warnings (275)

    The attachment is what I see when I did the performance analysis.

    The one in your tutorial, of course.

    I never looked at your site all.

    But as you asked, from a brief glance at the coding used for your website,
    having you as a teacher, unfortunately, does not bode well for your pupils.

    I like the idea of a tutorial, and being idiosyncratic is a boon. That your first part covers so little of the essentials of building a web page, provides a simple introduction, but I wonder how much of the subject will be covered before you loose interest? Also, as a side issue, I would suggest that cloud storage is the last place I would entrust with my development area. It should be off-line, and backed up to a second (or more) independent off-line server(s).
