Hit counter

Didn't know where else to post this...
Is it possible to make a hit counter without using PHP and all that stuff? Just using e.g. JavaScript etc.?

The problem isn't so much the counter as storing the value somewhere. As a general rule, you'll need a server side language to write the value back to the server.
