sounds cool lavalamp you doing the same thing as me (as far as websites ;P) i have just started getting into it a lot more now (css layouts and stuff, next summer ill learn php). I start college sept 27th. One thing though, its 8 yrs for me! >.< ill be going for veterinarian, so its a bit of schoolin ;P
Im going to Uni this year to do a hons degree in web development but if i learn php/mysql i dont really see it to be any benefit as they will probably teach outdated tables based invalid crap. But ill have to wait and see but the qualification would be good

really i looked for a degree like that cos i was going to go this year (im one year older than dave you see), but all the ones i could find were too general and crap, where is that course? i want it!!! although i agree with what you say, i know php and mysql pretty well so i wouldnt learn much on the course but its a good qualification to have under your belt, give me info damnit
M8 i would def. advise going to uni, even if you feel the degree is a bit mickey mouse. I must say i'm now in my third and final year and can't say i feel like i've learnt all that much (but i'm pretty sure i have), but wot it will give me is a piece of paper saying that i'm able to stick it out and learn and potential employers need to pay me more.
And here come the best bit - the life style! You'll only ever have this one oppertunity to live pretty much care free, spending most of you time playing footie/rugby, going on tour, and drinking in the bar - all of this on school nights. Add women to this equation and you've got it made.
I'm tempted to do masters once i finish to get another year of sports and drinking done before I hit the real world.
Neway this is just one self-confessed eternal students 2 pennies worth.
NB: This will only happen to students that get involved - not sit in their rooms doing stuff that would make their mums v.ashamed.
