Hello. I am just starting a side business in web development. I have been working as a web developer for a company for almost 3 years and now I want to venture out on my own.
The first issue I have ran is to is deciding what web hosting company to choose from. I need to decide quickly because I have my first company and I need to get their site up quickly!
I haven't even gotten my own site up yet.
There are so many to choose from and I am very overwhelmed. Please help!!
I'd suggest A Small Orange or iPowerWeb. I use iPowerWeb, but A Small Orange looks like a very good choice as well. They both offer reselling programs, shared hosting, and/or dedicated hosting.

If you're looking for affordable, quality hosting. Go to http://www.sonataweb.net. I've been with them for approximately 3 months and there hasn't been any downtime yet.

Thank you so much for your replies. I forgot to mention one thing. I need a host that can host asp pages. Sorry, I forgot to mention that! Any other suggestions?
I host ASP and can do you a special deal being a fellow member of the forum and all. Message me or reply to this topic with what you'd like and I'll see what we can sort you out.
Piko looks excellent, only thing I would like to see is a money back guarantee for 30 days. Really cuts the heard when it comes to hosting. Piko I think it worth your while to offer and charge for domain if you reg one an account that cancels.

VERY good idea, INFACT maybe I could charge for just the domain and start the monthly charge 30 days afterwards (domains can be released of course at any point).
That way there's no real risk to me or the customer.
If anyone is interested in this and their own custom hosting package be sure to let me know.
BTW at the moment we only have Windows 2003 Servers. (ASP Classic, .NET, SQL Server 2000, etc)
They are UK based so I don't know if you have to be, or not, but One and One seems to be a fairly well established web host that I've looked into using, but haven't.
Their top of the line package is alright. But I have found a more afordabe host that offers what brinkster can offer and more. The only drawback is the payment is anual. 100 bucks out of the pocket at one time :/. You would have to go through a reseller, but cybercities india is hosting the servers.
unlimited b width
mssql server
mysql
php
asp
asp.net
pop3 accounts
smtp
ssl
I believe they have a payment gateway type of deal setup but it would cost extra to use.
They run xeon servers... single xeon, not dual, and they run w2k3.
