Create Word Document by HTML Tags

    Hi All,

We are creating word document by using HTML tags.

We are successfully able to create it, now suppose we opened the same word doc and want to do action as save as..

Here save as dialog box will pop up but in save as type we can see only option as htm or html... is it possible to display option as *.* doc or only document type.

Please let me know if any one have idea on it..

    Regards

If it's HTML it's HTML not a word document.

It sounds to me like you aren't grasping that word is word and html is html, and the two really don't talk to each-other well if at all. Word can open a HTML document, but it instantly makes a total mess of it, more so if you do something really stupid like edit it; saving it as a word document will completely break it's HTML functionality...

So I'm really not sure what you are trying to do other than use WORD to do something it was NEVER meant to do in the first place -- work with HTML.

You can put HTML tags in a word document, but that does not mean that you have created a valid HTML file. Have you tried running it yet???

Hi All we are creating Word document by using HTML tags, as on server Word is not installed so we are taking help of HTML Tags.

Now after creating word document , we are able to open it as word, but during save as its shoing its as HTM or HTML, that is main issue....

    This is nonsense.

    1. What do you mean by "creating a word document"? How do you know that it is in Word format? It could be simply readable by Word.

    2. If it is in Word format, why is it being recognized as HTML when you try to save it?

This is just a guess. Word documents can be saved in an XML format, perhaps the poster is actually attempting to create an XML Word doc, and calling it HTML?

That is my point. Word reads and saves a whole gamut of formats, which are not (reliably) usable as HTML source files because they are not pure ASCII. Word stuffs the files full of non-ASCII characters (like beginning and ending double quote symbols). At least, it did the last time I received a file from a client which had been edited in Word!
