creating a database

So here's my task.

I want to create a website. People will visit this website, fill in information, and that information will then be stored in a database on my server to create client files in my customer tracking program. Where should I start? What applications, languages, etc. should I be looking into?

If you are starting from scratch, I would recomend PHP and MySQL, both excellent as well as freeware.

Since they are freeware there are also a lot of freeware tools create to use them, eg PHP-nuke.
With it (or another such util) it shouldn't take to many days to get your entire site up and running.

The sites I link to have excellent manuals and links to support sites.

If you want a book you can buy one of thoses too I guess, but everything you need is avalable free online.
