    Window XP Home Edition: Can the annoying sound be turned off?

    Regarding Window XP Home Edition: Is there any way I can turn off those annoying (to me anyway) musical notes that play on startup and exit?

    Yea...
    Programs->Control Panel->Sounds, Speech, and Audio Devices->Sounds and Audio Devices

    Click on the Sounds tab.

    Click the Speaker next to Exit Windows (Start Windows) and in the drop down menu scroll up until you see (None) Click Apply.
