Drop down menu displays under select element

Hi,

My drop down menu is always displayed under html select element.
I searched on the net about this problem and found a solution which uses iframes. But I do not want to use Iframes. Is there another solution for this.

Hide the select element

Can I just hide part of the select element.

Possible by placing an element on top of the select, but I wouldn't recommend it.
