Newbie - Error on start

I just started to learn ASP and received an error before I could even start.
When I type: http://localhost/iisHelp/iis/misc/default.asp
or some other *.asp to start in my Internet browser (Firefox), I receive this error:

Server Application Error
The server has encountered an error while loading an application during the processing of your request. Please refer to the event log for more detail information. Please contact the server administrator for assistance.
