My domain is up for it's first renewal soon and GoDaddy will renew it for $30. I only paid $8 or 9 to begin with. What is up with that? What might prevent them from charging me $500 next year? Are there any options here? Can I transfer it to another registrar that won't charge me that much? How can I get around this? P.S. I'm not cheap....just broke!
It's just business. Their free to charge whatever the traffic will allow. Many sites offer low prices up front and then get you on renewal. I don't know about this one.
Yes, you can always transfer to another company. Just go to another company and you will see somewhere on the form a place to transfer the domain.
