directory listing

Hi,
is there a way to make a dirrectory listing in a website, similar to the generic listings (where an index file isn't available), but where it is possible to download complete folders rather than having to download each file within the folder seperatly?

You might be able to have a server side language get all the contents of a directory, zip it all up in a bundle, and then send it to ya.

that made very little sense to my simple mind!! haha...

what i meant was to have a web site that can enable people to browse the contents of a directory, and download stuff from that directory...
maybe even have a search facility...
i dont have much patience to go through frontpage and other programmes until i find one that can do this, so i'm hoping that someone can help me!
