abbr, links and table headers

What is the best solution for abbr and links? Should the abbr be outside the link? Or inside the link?

    Code:
    Outside:

MP

    vs.

    Inside:

MP

I put the inside the , since the is saying that the text inside the is an abbreviation, not that the and the text inside it is an abbreviation.

You always place it next/touching to the abbr. word, for example IBM and not anywhere else.
