    sql id increamate

I have a php script and all that allows ppl to register, login, ect... and I was wondering how you get the id to go up one everytime a member registers? Like you would have 1 for the first original user, and then 2 for the next one, and 3 for the next, and so-on-and-so-forth. Can anyone tell me how to do this?

almost all databases have some form of creating a sequential field:

    - ms sql server, oracle allow you create a sequence and bind the sequence to a table column via triggers
    - mysql has an "auto_increment" option on its primary key fields
