I'm a hand coder by heart since the early days. I picked up a copy of Dreamweaver a year ago and find myself doing everything in it mainly for the following reasons:
1. Templates in lieu of includes
2. Library items (again in lieu of includes)
There's no doubt that DW preparsing is strong. I really don't care about the code it produces since I check/change it where needed.
I would rather continue hand coding but I can't find any preparsing alternatives. Am I missing something?
Of course your missing something! There is always something on the web that suits your exact needs, but finding it is another thing. Try TSW Webcoder, it used to be free but they sell it for money now I still have a free version, and am going to see if they will allow me to put a download for it on my web page.
If ur a hard coder then Komodo IDE is the way to go.
Its not only for web developement, but has support for many many other languages.
-good nav
-function listing (very helpful if u have a big code file)
-editable code colouring
-code hinting (even for your own functions and variables )
and oh FTP (admitidly not as good as DW)
but overall a MUCH more superior coder than dreamweaver
