    Angry Detected a trojan virus then harddrive boot error

    Last night i full scan my pc for a possible virus due to some reasons. Then I detected a trojan virus after a detection: the effected components was the explorer.exe and some systm file in windows. After prompting me the detection my screen for a while...a long time...so i decided to reboot it... after rebooting it prompts me that their are no harddrive detected to continue rebooting...so i loaded my xp cd for a check up/recovery but it prompts me that my pc had no hard drive..what happen to my pc i try to look in on my BIOS...but it was okey!...please can someone give some solution/suggestion..please i need my mobe i had to learn some new stuff...

    have you set the bios to boot from the disk?
    I had trouble getting my first linux liveCD to boot, had to mess around with the priorities for a while...

    you may have damaged your master boot record whiolst the system was performing checks, a stupid thing to do, you should always leave the pc to do its job, if after an hour theirs no change then you can bet something has gone wrong.

    if you have a DOS boot disk with fdisk on it, from DOS (eg boot system with that floppy) from the A: drive, prompt, type fdisk c:\ /mbr and hit the enter key (if I remeber correctly) this should put the needed information on to you hard disk.

    If that doesnt work, you have recovery options to try and recover the data otherwise it will be a case of re-installing your operating system.

    I was recently hit by some attack that came in over my wifi and my laptop was turned into a 4.5lb paperweight. I have since resurected it as the mbr wouldnt take, but the new operating system installed no problem.
