Help with CSS overriding font styles

    Hello!

I'm pretty new at CSS and have only done basic stuff with it thus far. I'm now working on a site that's been kinda passed down to me, and am running into some issues. We're updating it from an old design to a new one. Any archaic code in the HTML will be cleaned up, just haven't gotten around to it yet.

Anyway, here's the main problem. The main text in a document (usually indicated in the HTML with < p > tags) is always coming out in bold. Despite the fact that the style sheet clearly has the font-weight set to "normal," it's still bolding everything. There are two exceptions. 1) If text is in a table (as in the code below) it will not bold and behaves properly. And 2) Irony of ironies, this problem only appears in Firefox, not IE. If I play with the other setting in the style sheet, such as font size, that has an effect on the text. I simply cannot get the text to be unbolded.

You'll see in the style sheet that it's not just a problem with the paragraph tag, but I even created a new class in the style sheet (called "yargh") and tried making one of the earlier paragraphs just a DIV CLASS for that, and the bold still pervades that.

If anyone has any other ideas, please let me know. This site has been invaluable to be thus far, but I'm stuck now. Thank you!

    Tim

services are held in the chapel, part of the original campus complex but extensively
renovated through private gifts during the 2004-05 school year.&nbsp; Designed for about
200 worshippers, the chapel has flexible seating and chancel areas that enable it to

<p>The seminary's Dean of Chapel oversees the campus worship life. The Worship Committee,

the course of the year. Students regularly serve as organists, instrumentalists, cantors,
and choir members. Many of the festivals of the Christian year are celebrated in
full-length services at which faculty members serve as preachers. </p>

Have you run it through the validators? I'd start by fixing the HTML, which is just horrible.

Yeah, I know. That's what years of a website using Frontpage will do to code I guess. I'll run some validators on the CSS when I've got some time this afternoon. I'm really thinking I might just start by building my own CSS and page from scratch and see what happens. I'll keep you posted.

    Thank you!
