    Web Developer duties

Please add or comment on what a Web Application Developer does. Here is my attempt but would like some editing or additions:

    Develop Web applications
Build Server side and client side software programs.
Design Web pages, graphics and images.

    Database design and development
Design Database schemas and develop database scripts such as SQL. Transfer one dimensional data (Excel) to multi dimensional data structures (Access, MySQL).

    System Engineering
Build Perl scripts to automate data transfers, process files and fetch information off Unix and Windows servers.

    Process Automation/Improvement
Build Software applications for Web Interfaces to automate tasks that are currently being done manually.

    Customer consulting
Advise customers on ways to improve their processes with Web enabled software. Provide guidance on their requirements.

I don't agree that a developer should know how to design graphics - that's a Graphic Designer (if you want quality stuff). The same with the site Design - Developers can code good stuff, but that doesn't mean customers will enjoy the "look and feel" - they'll never see the code, they'll only know when they get a 404
