How do I reclaim my URL
Ok my friend had his site hosted with a company and sorted his .com with them also. Recently it seems they've vanished of the face of the planet though, no site no office no nothing
![]() So he comes to me and asked if I'd host his site which isnt a prob, the prob is he wants to use his .com but its under control of this company who we have no contact with. Soooooooooooo my question is what is the way of going about regaining control of his .com Cheers |

Doing a Whois should at least get you some contact names and numbers:
http://www.networksolutions.com/whois/index.jsp Second, put in an order to transfer the domain name with a reputable registrar like: http://www.enomcentral.com/ While that may not get the domain transfered, they may come up with more contact info. The lesson from this should be that the domain name is much more valuable than the site files. They can usually be easily replaced... keeping that domain name safe... that's really what counts. EfV |

Hi,
You need to contact the domain name registrant to regain the access of the domain name. They will give you correct assistance according to their Terms Of Service. |

How long was the domain expired?
http://www.internic.com/ http://www.icann.org/ This info may help you. If the old registrar allowed transfer, resold the name within 12 months of expiry (known as rehab or dormant) then your friend as the previous registrant may have legal ways of reclaiming their property... |
