    graphics in java

I am writing a program in Java. I would like to place a jpg image on a Canvas. I seem to be able to get the jpg image or the canvas, but not the image on top of the canvas. The canvas and other components cover up the image. I want the image to appear only on the canvas. Does anyone know how to do this. I am using Sun's sdk 1.3.1. Thanks

Sorry, but Java isn't JavaScript. I posted the story about why it isn't in the JavaScript forum called JavaScript info.

When exactly did the original poster confuse Java with JavaScript?

This is better directed (for better results) to a forum dedicated to Java.
