    Very Simple Question about Transparency.

With both Jasc PSP and Adobe PS I have not been able to figure out how to make an image that has some stuff in the middle (which is a chess piece) and have a transparent background. I have done it before, but I forgot how to do it, and nothing seems to be working.

If you read this and know the answer, please answers so I don't go kill myself or something.

    Thanks, Alan.

In Jasc, go to color, the go to set palette transparency. Now, just set your. Note: this will reduce your colors to 256, also when you save, save as gif or png, so you can have transparency.

Yeah PSP requires you to dither to 256 colours, which kind of defeats the point of transparency in PNGs. One app I really like is Ulead PhotoImpact - handles alpha transparency really well, and does a good job of compression (at least version 7, not sure about earlier versions).

Help get full alpha-transparency in Internet Explorer - probably won't help, but worth a try

Yeah, that kind of annoys me... I'd like to upgrade to PhotoShop, but I'm too cheap.
