    Hi,
sorry i though you ask what the best graphics program was to create graphics for websites. You didn't specify if it was the best free one or the best money can buy?????
Surely the free ones can't be as good as one you have to buy?
To me free normally means crap, having to buy, not always but most of the time means your getting something good.

    Hope this helps you decide

it also depends on your meaning of "free". many design programs would cost lots of money if you went out and bought them, but they become free thanks to kazaa.

You mean like a Linux + apache makes for a crappy webserver since it free and W2k + IIS is much better with eg higher uptimes just becuse it will cost you the shirt of your back?

You need do do a reality check I think...

i use fireworks 4 and most of the time it works fine. i can usually get it to do what i want. i have photoshop 7 downloaded, but i have yet to get the hang of it. people tell me photoshop is much much better than fireworks, i just find the program to be needlessly compilicated thus far.

I don't think Pete would be happy to hear about illegitimate downloading of commercial applications. Thus I can only presume you meant, you'ld download 'trail versions' of such commercial software via peer-to-peer.

It also depends if you want to use Vector or Bitmap.

I'm going to guess that number was off the top of you head, and probably drastically low.
