Holiday Shockwave Games

Well, it's time to look at some of the festive holiday related Shockwave games that are available on the Internet this year. Remember that these are just a few of the sites I liked and there are many more available at the Macromedia Site. Also, it's important that you send in your votes for the best holiday Shockwave (see the last column if you have any questions) of the year. I haven't seen any mails yet, and it being so close to Christmas (you know, Christmas Eve) I kind of expected that I would have heard from some of you at this point.

Anyway your votes will count and we will cover the winners and their techniques in the first column of the new year. For know, let's look at a few of the sites that I visited over the last week. Most of these use simple Lingo for control of the Mouse, Stage, and Sprites similar to the Lingo we have discussed in previous columns.

William's Look at Holiday Shockwave Games

Jazz-Man
PacMan all jazzed up for the holidays. (142 K)

Well OK, I like PacMan, so when I saw this I had to check it out--I liked it a lot. This Shockwave has sound, and an interface all of you are probably familiar with. It's a fun game and the instructions for playing are documented on this same page.

Turn on the Tree!
Play with the pretty lights. (66 K)

This Shockwave is very simple, but I liked it as well. If you have kids, my personal recommendation is to show them this one. I have a four month old son, and when I put his hand on the mouse and helped him click the lights on and off he went crazy.

Build your own Snowman
Another chance to make your own Frosty! (69 K)

This one is very cool. I know we've seen this type of thing before, but I've spent the last several years in Austin Texas and it just doesn't snow that much here. Consequently, the opportunity to build a snowman just doesn't come up that often. I guess the only thing better than this would be a Web cast where you could influence building a snowman live.

These are just a few of the many Shockwave Holiday Games available on the Net this season. Take a look at these along with the rest, and let me know what you think by casting your votes. Until the next column, I hope that everybody gets what they want, and more importantly, that you all have a safe and happy holiday season.
