[RESOLVED] getelementbyid().innerhtml object doesn’t support this property or method…

My page works perfectly in Firefox and Safari, but in internet explorer I get an ‘object doesn’t support this property or method’ error.
previous = document.getElementById(‘previous’).innerHTML;
This is the line that is causing the “error”.

Any help greatly appreciated.

<–EDIT–>
Found a solution, changed to:
var previous = document.getElementById(‘previous’).innerHTML;
@phpnoviceMar 26.2006 — ...and, for everyone else, the reason is because the first example is attempting to create a global variable which is in conflict with the original HTML element when naming such elements by ID in IE. The second example is a fine work-a-round to this siuation if this is used inside of a function. Outside of a function, there might still be a problem.

The actual solution is to not use such a duplicate naming convention.

Cheers.
