@the_treeJun 19.2006 — It means your browser wasn't built by a madman and doesn't support a feature that is an awful lot like going to a hell of a lot of effort to make your computer as in secure as possible.

@dthurman1432Jun 19.2006 — If you're using Windows XP with service pack 2, enable ActiveX controls by following these instructions:

-Click the Start menu, then Control Panel.

-Double-click Internet Options.

-Click the Security tab.

-Click the Internet icon, then click the Custom Level button.

-Make sure that ActiveX controls and plug-in settings are all set to "Enable".

@felgallJun 19.2006 — And wait for someone to destroy the content of your hard drive.

Microsoft recommend disabling ActiveX unless you have XP with service pack 2. Installing SP2 changes the ActiveX settings to disable the 90% of ActiveX controls intended for use on intranets that are not safe to use on the internet. Changing those settings will open up hundreds of security holes.

@felgallJun 20.2006 — You should be worried about security. Turning down the security options on your computer increases the chances of it being used to lauch attacks on our computers so you have implacted everyone else's security at the same time. The only time you don't need to worry about security is if your computer is either not connected to the internet or is part of an intranet where there is an interface that takes care of the security for you.

  • [*]You need to download a variety of malware for research purposes.
  • [*]You're running OS1.
  • [*]You took a backup five seconds ago and you really don't mind running a full system recovery.
  • [*]You hate the guy who owns the computer.
