Updating php on cpanel

I am currently trying to update the php on cPanel.
I just downloaded WordPress to cPanel, tried to launch it and I got a (Your PHP installation appears to be missing the MySQL extension which is required by WordPress) so I looked it up and it looks like I need to update the php version only problem is when I go to Select php Version in the Software section I get another error (Undefined error Traceback (most recent call last)). So it seems to me that I need to have the hosting provider do it on WHM.

OR is there anything else I can do to get it updated myself?

@NogDogSep 17.2019 — Is it saying you need the MySQL extension, or the MySQLi extension (note the trailing "i")? I believe the current versions of WP default to the newer MySQLi, as the older MySQL extension is not even available in the current versions of PHP.

PS: In other words, it may be that you need to configure WP to use "MySQLi", not "MySQL".
