HELP! Problems with SASS

Hi everyone – I’ve recently taken over a custom built WordPress website which uses SASS, (I assume its SASS as the files are .SCSS files?).
I have zero experience with SASS!

I have noticed that when I make styles changes directly within a .SCSS file these changes do not take effect on the front end!
After doing some research Ive seen that these files need to be “compiled” using gulp, but I have no idea how to do this and Google searches on this really haven’t been too friendly to me!

So what is the correct way to do this?
Can someone help?

Thanks

@bwclovisMay 21.2020 — Well it doesn't HAVE to be gulp, and one would think you would have been given some documentation on this, but oh well. I guess the first question to ask is, do you have a webpack, gulp, grunt, parcel, or Browserify file and / or what does the package.json file look like ( should be somewhere in the client directory, its been a while with WordPress for me so my file structure knowledge is a bit rusty).
